I am a backend dev with 2 years of experience. Work on micro services mostly. Is this still in demand? What more do I need to learn to grow further? I am looking to switch in about 12 - 15 months. My target is 300-400k. What should I learn to get there? Apart from doing Leetcode. I know many people have been in my shoes and have gone on to do big things in their careers. I have the drive and the time. Just need some guidance with respect to what path to take. TIA Blind tax: 170k #engineering #software #swe
Isnt backend the highest paid domain within eng after ML? In comparison to ios, android, data eng, data science etc.
Rephrased my question
High TC == System design
It is unfortunately. I feel ridiculously unfairly paid when I see backend engineers land 400-500k and all they do is move protobufs and define new “endpoints”
Hahaha! That's what I do as well but don't get paid nearly as much.
Lol and what do you work on Yantran? There’s so much more to just “moving protobufs and defining endpoints”. Wish it was that easy. Have to deal with a bunch of different technologies, databases, ensure performance and resilience, etc. Be oncall for the systems. That’s no easy feat at large scales. Mistakes can be very costly.
Experia pays 170k ? Last time I heard they only paid 130k for sde1-2
It changed. They increased base salaries, and removed bonuses.
what is it now compared to before? can you share your break down
I'm literally a swe with more yoe only making 200k in this economy lol
Learning how to suck your managers dick
