Skip Google phone interview?

So I had an on-site for Test Engineer last year around May, and failed. I wanna go back for maybe test engineer again (not sure of the pay scale) or an SDE (studying for this one). For either role, what are the odds of re-doing a phone screen? And when can I apply again for Test Engineer? My recruiter left for Oculus and is no longer at Google so he can’t help.

If it's been more than a year, you need to redo a phone screen

Alright, gotcha. So if it’s under a year, I can go straight to onsite then? Just wanna confirm because nobody explicitly has told me as of yet.

You'd have to ask the recruiter

New role=new interviews needed. Generally speaking they can’t revisit your candidacy until after 12 months anyways..

So it doesn’t matter if it’s a new role, I still have to wait 12 months is what you’re saying?

I gave my onsite without a phone screen! I dont know what all goes behind the scenes but HR told me that they can skip the phone screen for my onsite! That was my 1st onsite

Damn lucky! That’s awesome dude.

Not so lucky in the onsite though 😕

I skipped my Google phone screen and Amazon accommodated me by setting up travel arrangements to Seattle before the actual phone screen. What happened was that I had an offer from FB and politely asked how fast they can move.

Oh that’s what it was for.

Looks like this is an old post. But what kind of questions did they ask for the Test Engineer position? Was it a hardware test engineer position?
