Skype loses messages

Seriously. Here at Google we have infrastructure to guarantee at least once delivery. We have bugs every once in awhile but Skype has been losing messages for years. Why? How could you release such a thing. Wtf Microsoft.

VMware tyxS31 Aug 11, 2018

Why do you use Skype for messaging anyway!!

Audio and video is better than hangouts

Facebook JvpY07 Aug 11, 2018

Skype is the foulest turdy piece of software I've ever dealt with. Shit doesn't even work on Xbox - Microsoft's own goddamn product!

Because it’s p2p.

VMware tyxS31 Aug 12, 2018

Not anymore

Uber tROh00 Aug 13, 2018

P2P is not the problem.

Microsoft NLrO85 Aug 12, 2018

Why are you still using skype at google? I dont use it anymore at msft. Everyone knows its a piece of crap.

Google hgx88 OP Aug 12, 2018

Audio and video quality is very good. I just remembered, I went to school with one of the people who first created Skype (he retired long ago). He was kinda angry that Microsoft changed it from peer to peer to centralized.

Microsoft NLrO85 Aug 12, 2018

You got your answer then :) use it for video and audio but send messages using something else. Its not the best solution but its the best youre going to get out of skype. Personally, I think even the performance of the app itself sucks. It seems pretty random, but at times it just becomes unresponsive for no reason when all my other apps are working just fine. Or sometimes, it will take a really long time to just show the window when I click on it. Its probably better on linux tho but I only use that version at home on my powerful computer, so cant really compare.
