I said “you guys” in a Slack chat earlier today, and the woke Slack-bot quickly corrected me and said “I think you mean *people*.” Thanks Slack. Down with the patriarchy! Note I don’t mind this too much, it’s just kind of silly.

Is this a slack app? I have never had slack correct my statements
Might be a Salesforce thing? An option they installed perhaps.
“You people” is also offensive in the wrong context. (watch Tropic Thunder if you need an example)
Yeah People are the worst
It’s not good. Agreed.
I mirror the question above. Sounds like an internally developed slack bot. We have something similar.
Beginning to think that too. We have a Chief Equality Officer you know.
Wait till they limit the dictionary to only a set of “approved” words No where near 1984 utopian but we will get there thanks to “diversity and inclusions” officers
Yeah anyone else notice how weird it is that they have the word “officer “in their title? Is this to prep us for when they get the right to use lethal? force against speech?
It’s definitely bizarre. It’s amazing how it’s generally accepted. Search for this tittle on linkedin ...
It's just a bot, right? So you just need to install an anti-woke bot to argue with the woke-bot. Sure, you'll lose control of the channel quickly as they argue with each other but that will save you making those arguments ad nauseum. Most political arguments on social media can probably be automated this way, and probably are.
I love this.
Did slack add this integration automatically? Or did salesforce add it?
Beginning to think Salesforce did it
Did you hear the one about the guy who identifies as a cat? Oops, I just called him guy. Anyway. He’s suing his company for not providing a litter box in the restroom. Not kidding.
This kind of gets to the root of the issue that freedom of expression is all but dead in the Bay Area tech industry. These things get pushed by a minority in the company and the majority of people aren’t really fans and think it’s taking PC way to far but are afraid to challenge it for fear of getting called “white supremacists”, “chauvinists”, etc and getting fired.
Why would you expect to have freedom of expression in a private company though?
Why wouldn’t you? Especially in the tech industry which promotes an environment of dissent. I don’t join a company expecting to be told words i use in my everyday conversation such as “you guys” is now banned.
Guys can call each other ‘guys’ but otherwise it is cultural appropriation and racist.
That's strange. Because I typed "you people" and it said "I think you mean *comrades*?"
😂😂
I think you meant "OUR" Comrades
