We have a coworker in our org that constantly updates their Slack status. They are very specific, like “Eating breakfast”, “Walking dog”, “Taking a shower”, “Cuddling with pets” Is this normal and has anyone else seen something similar?
They are slacking too much
“Taking a shower” lmao
What's the problem with the status update ?
Sets bad expectations for the culture of the team that you have to tell everyone where you are and what you're doing all the time.
Are they married?
He has a camera in his home and use CV+ChatGPT+slack plugin to update his statuses
They might have a micromanager whom they are updating regularly
My team will note lunch (code for walking) and appointments/commuting when they will be unreachable that’s it
Write "Pretending to Work" as your status.
Some of the people on my team do it. I don't even turn the green light on most days.
And nobody complains? I’ve had managers before ask me why my light was gray for so long
No. I respond when people message me.
How much time are they spending doing these activities ?
I think OP is spending more time keeping track of his activities
I think you're spending more time tracking their activities. Who cares what they do with their slack status?
