I heard there’s no way salesforce would buy slack less than the closing stock price when the news officially comes out at the end of day. Apparently if it does, slack stock holders can sue. Is this even remotely true?
Acquisition confirmed?
I don't think this is true, but not 100%. Companies do secdonary offerings below market price all the time, so idk why an aquisition would be any different.
This is not true. They will sell at whatever price the board and majority of shareholders agree to.
If that were true, market would pump up the stock and Salesforce would have to pay hundreds of billions. The price is always negotiated and once the acquisition price is announced, the market adjusts accordingly.
That makes sense. Thanks.
The price went up because of these rumors, so it's entirely possible
30B
30B is like 45/share?
Likely 50/share. Best play 45c(5) & 41p(1). If deal closes at current price - Money is burned.
Shareholders will get $26.79in cash and a 0.0776 shares of CRM. Math on it with the current Salesforce price is about $45.86. And I can guarantee CRM is going to sink a little for some time, so anyone buying Slack stocks for more will lose money.
CRM consensus target is $260
Acquisition price has been fixed at $26.79 per stock in cash and 0.0776 share of CRM for every slack stock. CRM tanked to $229.80 after market close which makes it 17.79 per slack stock. For Slack a 27.7 billion valuation puts the price per share around 44-45$. Any drop in CRM shares will reduce the acquisition price. I don’t see any logic for slack price to go any higher. In fact you can end up with less value if CRM drops any more before the acquisition completes
