I am potentially looking to join. Unfortunately don't have a lot of friends at snap that I know well so hard to get a read of the sentiment. 2018 was hard. How are you feeling now? How's the trust in product roadmap and leadership? Will you join Snap today ? (Knowing what you know about the company as an employee today... ) Help a fellow engineer make the right decision.
I interviewed at snap, seems like most engineers there are competitve selfish FOBs who only care about high TC. Seems toxic
I would join!
Thanks. How long have you been at Snap and what do you like the most about it?
Only if you're over-leveled. I would not join under-leveled with a promise for promotion within 6month-1 year. The new promo process is shit. I've seen rockstar engineers get denied promo when they clearly deserves it.
I think I would join. Snap has been improving in the way it makes decisions.
Thanks for the answer.
How many yoe for an L4?
Yes.
Iād join again in a Snap
Whatās your level and offer?
Itās a clusterfuck but they pay a lot and thereās a lot of opportunity to have broad impact or execute on your own vision if you know what youāre doing/are senior enough. Iād probably join again, Iām optimistic about the future, especially with FB missteping constantly.
I confirm that you can have incredible impact if you know what you're doing, in part because there's a lot of low hanging fruit. Also, Snap's product culture, although not intact, still values ephemerality and forgiveness. The bad part is thst there's a lot of fragmentation and lack of a strong company action-oriented culture. This is in strong contrast with AMZN, where LPs are used to decide about what to do. Some improvements have been made, but they haven't yet permeated the culture as a whole.
Not in snap but is fb not doing well so you looking to jump ship before it sinks?
I see thanks for the explanation š
He deleted it - what did he say?
