I used to work at Snap and I am surprised to see couple of strong engineers in Camera Platform to have been laid off in Feb. These engineers might have some rough edges but they are solid technical leads and would be an asset to any team. What happened during Feb layoff? What was the criteria applied? #snap #layoffs
The primary filter was pretty much remote employees or those nowhere near an office, secondary performance. Lots of surprises on my team too
Thought you were talking about the Snapchat filter lol
Some really good high level engs were laid off
Not all layoffs are due to poor performance. Some are due to redundancy or financial reasons.
Most layoffs are not due to performance people need to quit saying this as it hurts others who were laid off with that false narrative
They lay off the remote, some the top engineers here
They just love firing people, so they fired a bunch to make room for more people who will get fired later. It's great! Come join us!
I was just contacted by a recruiter from Snap labs, WTF
Same 🤣
