Looking at Snap job postings, they are grouped by YOE. It seems the cutoffs are 1+, 3+, 5+, 8+. I am assuming these map to levels: 1+ - L3 3+ - L4 5+ - L5 ... Any insight on this? I have 2 YOE but would like to apply for L4 (which is the equivalent of SDE2 I believe?)
YOE does not necessarily map to levels. L4 pays 333k TC on the lowest range. It is very rare for someone to come in as an L4 with only 2 YOE. Unless you are a rockstar that brings a lot to the table, you will likely be L3 with a mid range target.
Thanks for the reply. Is L3 entry level? I’m a bit confused by the leveling.
After the re leveling, the ranges are wider now. L3 can be entry level as well as someone <4 yoe. L4 should e realistically be 4+ yoe. And L5 6+. Of course it depends on interview performance as well as your past company. Note that you will now have more negotiation room within a level, for example a high end L3 might be close to L4 in comp. I wouldn’t worry about the exact levels because who knows they might merge it again or split again, look at the team, and your comp.
What are the salary band differences between L3 and L4?

Bump each of those years up by 1 and add a great interview performance for a more realistic mapping.
