I have a Google hangout call coming up for a Security SWE role, and the recruiter said it will be some resume questions, some behavioral questions, a coding question, and some general security questions (all in one hour). What kind of “general security questions” should I expect in this brief of a time period? General trivia about things like symmetric vs asymmetric encryption, OAuth, common attack vectors etc.? Or something else? Also, since this role is security SWE, should I expect the coding bar to be slightly lower than a regular SWE role, e.g LC medium instead of hard? YOE: 3 TC: 220K
How did you apply to get a call back? I'm in the embedded domain & applied a few weeks ago. Still waiting to hear back from them.
I found the post on LinkedIn and the manager of the team hiring was linked. After applying I reached out to them over LinkedIn saying that I applied, I thought I would be a good fit for X reasons etc. I posted this on another thread but in case you’re curious about what the phone screen looks like: 1 hour Google hangout: - One LC medium that was similar to a company tagged post on LC. -One standard behavioral question. -One “high level” security question. Similar to: “how would you attack x”, “how do you know Y is secure”, etc. That one took maybe 5-10 minutes. I was lucky enough to get the call back for the on site!
