I've a final round interview coming up with Snap soon. Currently, I've 3 years of experience and I am an SDE 2 at Amazon. The recruiter hasn't talked about leveling yet. My interviews will be 2 x coding 1 x design and coding 1 x system desing 1 x behavioral What is the hiring bar for Snap L4? I see that the salary band is much higher than Google L4, so I'm assuming the hiring bar would also be a lot higher than G L4. I'm focusing on system design and behavioral rounds at this point of time. Anything else I need to be aware of to be better prepared for the interviews? Yoe - 3 TC - 200k #snapchat #interview
SDE2 at Amazon is roughly L4 at Snap unless you just got promoted
Thanks, I've driven multiple projects (1-2 quarter big) from design to launch, and have also finished a service migration. I assume that should be enough to put me around Snap L4.
Snap L4 = G L4 + most of G L5 Hence they can stretch their pay beyond 350k even for L4
Looking at the payband that definitely makes sense. But I see people with 3-4 years being L4 at Snap, so I doubt you need to be a low Google L5 to be a Snap L4.
No, it's more like getting slotted in L4 is one thing and getting top of band of L4 is another thing. People get slotted in L4 as they have 3 + yoe and then if the Snap comp committee offers anything a bit north of L4 mid pay, it still falls into G L5 band range. That's how they are attracting talent.
do u guys think if i made the google hiring bar its possible to make snaps??
I interviewed with snap three weeks ago and got the L4 offer. I am currently a sde2 at aws with 5 yoe. I got two LC hard and one LC medium question in my virtual on-site. Good luck!
What is your prep strategy?
I am not a smart person so I worked hard and kept practicing everyday. I resolved 500+ leetcode questions in 3 months. I read Design Data Intensive Application book twice and watched a lot system design videos and tech talks on YouTube. I didn't have weekends the past three months. I spent all the weekends on preparing for the interviews. Even for weekdays, I spent 6am to 9am on leetcode and 7pm to 10pm on system design.

What is Snap’s future? I hardly ever hear about them anytime
Companies evolve even when your headlights are not on them.
Being at Amazon, I'm used to have teams with broad scopes, early career SDEs having lots of technical ownership, opportunities to collaborate with teams across org, and taking on more challenging projects based on your interest. Snap's culture seems a better fit for someone looking for that, than the other big players apart from Facebook.
