Can someone who has gone through the interview process for DS at Snap (either working there or interviewed) give me some insight into what types of areas I should be prepping? Any resources that can help me?
Snap interviews seem always mysterious
DS interviews seem to be even less standardised than SWE
You barely see Snap DS or Eng or any employees jump out and open a YouTube channel or post on any forums to chat about how to interview at Snap (compared to a lot of high profile FB employees)
@snapster and @nextdoor any idea how and where to prepare from?
When I prepared for my DS interview, one thing I did was do the database section of Leetcode and Hackerrank. That will help with SQL and maybe data modeling, but there’s a lot of random stuff you will be testing on related to stats, a/b testing, etc
Thanks. Can you provide examples for stats and ab testing questions? The recruiter also mentioned python, do you know what kind of python questions?
I went to the final onsite with them months ago, never heard back after even though I must have reached out 3-4 times. I would say make sure you're comfortable with SQL & python, stats & a/b testing (throw in some brain teasers), basic ML algos (linear regression, for instance, lasso & ridge, etc.), and can walk through your experience well. DM me for more details if you're curious, I can go more in depth.
This sounds about right for most DS loops
That you never hear back? ;)
Preparing for the Product DS technical screen. The interview invite says "you will go through coding and algorithm based questions with one of our software engineers". I've been preparing for both SQL and algorithm questions. I'm somewhat confused. Should I be expecting leetcode algorithm-type questions in the technical screen, or just SQL? Other types of questions also?
Leetcode easy / mediums for coding questions. Just do it in Python
@singleton any idea about BI Eng role at Snap?
Senior research scientist is what role in snap?
Is it for a product data science role or what?
Yes product DS
