Previously I heard Snap a very high bar, but I’m not sure if that is still the case these days. I know 4 people who got offers from Snap, all of them are very average at algorithms, and 1 can’t even get offer elsewhere. Just wondering if the people I know are outliers or it’s the common pattern these days.
Snap was initially all ex Amazon . Their hiring bar wasn’t that high. Lyft has a pretty low hiring bar too - Secondly hiring bar has shit to do with great engineering.
Which companies have great engineering?
Nothing beats luck.
No, it doesn't. Think about the fundamental innovativeness of the tech. Then think about how high of a bar you need to get that done.
You can always interview and see if you meet the “bar”. Honestly sounds more like your salty about your friends making 2x tc. Maybe they are just better at interviewing than you are. Remember interviews also require soft skills
Lol no, I don’t care about Snap TC and have never used Snap in my life. How’s the business doing with the rise of Tiktok these days? 🙂
Outlook is great 📈📈 not gonna lie I barely use snap but as long as all those new users flooding in, I ain’t complaining 🙂
For what locations though?
Snap puts a lot of weight on how friendly and likeable you seem during the interviews. I have been in interview panels where 2 people out of 5 thought that coding wasn’t meeting the bar, but the person was still made an offer.
If that’s the case then it makes sense. All 4 of my friends are all nice to talk to and also are very personable
Goes back to - it’s all about luck, luck and luck!
