Hello people, Can anyone from Snapchat help me understand the reason for my failure. I had Interviewed with Snapchat last week and got feedback that they cannot move forward with my profile. Interviewer was great and he made the process really good. Started with few behavioural questions which I answered well. We jumped to coding, still 30mins left for the interview. I was asked two lc type questions and I solved both with optimised approach, we did even run the code and it was working perfectly. Before running the code I wanted to check from my side if code is correct but interviewer insisted on running right away and I noticed a typo in my code, corrected it and it worked perfectly. I failed big tech in the past because I wasn’t able to complete the code or sometimes I wasn’t able to come up with optimised approach. But I thought in this interview I did really well and can’t figure out why I was rejected. I don’t really know what to do to make sure I pass the rounds. I failed many techs and now after snap I’m heartbroken 😔 #Softwareengineering
Can be a reason not related to you. Job was pulled, someone internal got it, scope was changed, buddy of the CEO got it, etc etc etc
Maybe, how would I ever know. The only feedback I got is that they feel sorry but they can’t move forward. :(
Did you ask for actionable feedback?
Have you researched the problem and discussed algo/ds before jumping into coding? Also double check thats its the most optimal approach. I had rejects due to solving in NlogN, instead of NlogK.
Yes I discussed the approach. We agreed on a greedy approach it was linear time and constant space. I wrote few edge and test cases and did the same for second question. I have been interviewing (even failed interviews helped me to get better) a lot and had improved myself a lot. If this would be me from last year, I understand I did lots of stupid mistakes back then but now I am very careful with what I speak and write.
It'll give you more insight, chances are high that it's not related to your performance at all.
Ok I’ll try that :)
i usually dont make judgement of the result, there are interviews where i did great and got rejected, and some i did poor but got the offer. it is biased process. try to interview with many companies.
You’re right! I’ll keep my hopes up.
Update: I will have a call with them, hope to have some takeaways !
any update?
Yeah, very detailed feedback. They said I was very close.
+1 this happened with me as well. My interviewer was a manager from Snap and he was unprepared. During interview he took 3-4min to search question online. It was all great, solved the questions and answered all the queries. Later got a rejection mail without any feedback.
Sorry to hear that. Have you asked recruiter to share feedback?
Ahhh it’s not new to me. I was in the same situation. Got asked LRU cache on the interview, nailed it with inefficient to optimal solution. Got rejected.
Sounds like the same scenario, have you received a general feedback or was it constructive?
Recruiter said they cant provide feedback. Just moved on
