I had an interview with snap for an FE role. They said they were impressed by what they saw, but apparently didn’t see enough signals to proceed to final round, so they want another interview before deciding. To provide some background on my current situation, I have a couple pending offers already that are strong enough in terms of TC, not snap strong but still at least 2x my current. I did go down a route with Uber where they hinted at some negative reaction to one of my final round interviews. Uber downgraded my level so I don’t think I want to go for their offer. I’m wondering if I should continue with snap, or save this contact for another try in the future as it may turn out to be another uber case if I proceed now? I’m just trying to make a decision that make sense, I don’t know if joining a team that is not excited about me makes any sense, but then I’ve never attempted interviews with companies of this caliber before. I just don’t know if it’s common to see this? Anyways, I hope someone can offer me some guidance. This is uncharted territory for me… #engineering #swe #interview
What were your others offers
Lyft, Opentable, Uber, Spotify, Hulu, SoundCloud I feel most inclined to take Hulu, the TC is competitive, and I feel I’d enjoy that work the most, it has a physical office I can go to is a plus too, whereas the others were mostly remote opportunities. Snap did sound nice to me too…but after this, not sure if their response is normal
Oh nice congrats! I do know someone who worked at Hulu ~5 years ago and didn't like the experience but things might've changed since then.
Hey op, what questions did they ask for phone screen? Was it LC or fe specific? If it was lc maybe thats why. fe engineers usually have a hard time with those
It was an FE focused interview! That is true, I definitely have a history struggling a tad with them but been drilling LC questions a lot for all companies I interviewed for
How much time did it take for them to reply back ?
2-3 days
Pick the job you’d like most you’ll make enough TC to be rich either way.
