Does Snapchat do formal written performance reviews every quarter? Or is it formal once or twice a year and the rest is lightweight? Is there a cutoff date for new hires, where people joining after that date won't go through perf reviews for that cycle, similar to a TNTE (Too New To Evaluate) at Meta? I MAY receive an offer and would like extra time to ramp up without worrying about performance reviews too early. TC: unemployed

Yes to every quarter. Lightweight as in I couldn't even give peer feedback and feedback to my manager was under 500 characters. Not words. Characters. Essentially, it boils down to your manager just arbitrarily giving you a: Top (10%), exceeds (15%), meets (70%), not meets (5%). Getting a not meets does not guarantee PIP, but it's not great. Some rumoring that two consecutive not meets = PIP. The review process is more or less your manager giving you one of those ratings without even soliciting peer feedback. I couldn't even do a self evaluation. It's as dumb as it sounds. It's now just purely political and rewarding those who are buddy buddy with their manager/skip.
I mean to be fair how much is a self eval worth? If rather not have to spend a day cranking out 10 per reviews too.
Self eval is a lot of bs, but at least you can list what you delivered. Now it's purely in the hands of your manager 🤷♀️
You can get up to 50% of your yearly TC as bonus. Up to 12.5% each quarter. That’s if you’re top 10%. If you’re top 25% you can get up to 25% of your yearly TC as bonus. Each quarter there’s a new evaluation based on that quarter. New hires skip the first evaluation.
Just a disclaimer that it's highly unlikely that anyone gets multiple tops per year and banking on getting anything is not advised. It's highly political now based on manager/skip/org liking you
