How relevant is snowflake in the world of generative ai? Does it still have a performance lead in data analytics for structured data? Does it carry those performance advantages it had in structured data into LLMs? Are enterprises more likely to move their structured data to Azure, AWS, GCP because they are preferred destinations for unstructured data? What’s the play with Microsoft Fabric?
80%+ of gen ai is unstructured data right now
Snowflake connects all the clouds into one seamless platform. It’s much more than just structured data and support python/java/scala/sql natively in the platform and with container services you will be able to bring “any” containerized element to operate on top of your data. A lot of fortune 100 companies are using snowflake across their data types.
Can you compare these features and capabilities to that of Microsoft or AWS?
Blink twice if you’re not ok.
AI at the end of the day is all about Data. Training, fine tuning, prompt augmentation, plus all the things a company wants to do to connect outputs to other workflows. Snowflake is relevant in the sense that AI adds another set of use cases that companies want to do with their data. It also up levels the complexity around manageability, security and governance, something Snowflake has been working hard to help customer simplify for years. I don’t think Snowflake will be pose to dominate, but I think it will be a significant player and the value it offers to customers today will be even more important as enterprise starts to find real use cases in AI.
But that means Snowflake is not the next Google/Microsoft and will have limited headcount growth.
It isn’t relevant. Don’t believe otherwise
