Hi folks, Got interview email from Snowflake. How is the company doing currently and what’s the interview process these days for senior software engineers? Are they flexible to give remote? Haven’t talked to HR yet. Just got email. TC 300K
The first call with director, he was so arrogant and terrible that I did not even want to interview. He was pathetic. I wish I can mention the name here
Could you please share just the director's initials?
What does your emoji mean in this message
Generally standard process. Unless you get a noob standard team
How many yrs of experience to get a TC like that ? 😮 what do you do ?
You must be new to blind. My TC is nothing here.
I have not seen a TC as high as yours. Wow. What is your job bro? I would want to be reach at your level considering I am in similar profession.
What role? They have 3 days wf from Dublin office if you in bay.. pretty chilled culture.. your bonus payout is quarterly
Senior software engineer
Don’t go to snowflake. It’s toxic as fuck
Why do you think so? How’s the pay?
The politics here is insane. If you’re looking to grow your career or seek promos stay away. We don’t have a standardized process and not getting promos is a big complaint across every org (engineering, product, sales). Our ceo went on an all hands complaining to us saying “titles don’t matter” and to “be the drivers of your own career” which basically meant suck a dick stop whining about no promo paths. My new manager came from Amazon a few months ago and said she’s never been in a more politically charged place in her life. This is all starts at the top because of our c suite/vps below them. Pay is good. CFO went on our last all hands saying they need to trim down our rsu comp moving forward because it makes up too much of our quarterly costs on the balance sheet (essentially fuck you we’re trimming comp).
My interview experience itself was so nasty in the 3 rounds I did. I had lost interest after the first call with the director. That is how much of an a-hole he felt to me
Company is doing well and the interview process is the same as it was before. Only difference is we have a lot of candidates in the pipeline lately so you’ll have to really stand out in terms of interview perf. No remote for senior engineers (there are exceptions but not anymore). Principal+ are allowed to be remote.
Good to know. How many years of experience needed to be a principal?
There are people with 12yoe who get IC3 (senior) roles and there are 17yoe who get IC5 (principal). There’s no set rule but as I said 15yoe will land you in a safe spot for IC5 but it’s never guaranteed. Your interview performance decides that.
Which all teams are toxic?
I had bad experience in all rounds and got rejected after first phase
Sorry to hear that. Can you elaborate on the interview process and areas focused please.
Also remember they do quarterly performance review. Don't go there. The interview vibe I got made me feel it is toxic place
