From LinkedIn data it seems 500 ex-Bloomberg engineers jump to Google(I guess most are Google NYC). While this number is dramatically smaller for other companies that ex-BBG engineers jump to. Why? Google-NYC really like BBG engineers? Or it’s hard for Google-NYC to recruit, and BBG has the most nyc engineers?

Bloomberg has lot of engineers still coding C++, that helps them clear coding interviews. It's not as if they are any better or worse but unless FANG changes hiring practices they will continue to outperform others in NYC.
How does C++ help them clear interviews?
C++ vs front end non-python devs, i would think the person doing C++ has an edge ? Maybe?
I had the pleasure of working with an ex-Bloomberg. He was one of the smartest engineers I worked with.

It's because at Bloomberg, we have excellent WLB and job security. Most of us aren't very interested in working at cutthroat companies with bad WLB, like FAN. Many Bloomberg engineers (including me) consider Google to be the only FANG company that is preferable to Bloomberg. I can tell you with certainty that my effective hourly rate at FB would be the same or lower, with a lot more stress. What's the point? Prestige isn't worth hating your life imo. I enjoy my work at Bloomberg, and am fortunate enough to work in a modern tech stack, as are many other engineers here.
I haven't even joined Bloomberg yet but this is literally me. Is this why they gave me an offer (other than obviously acing technical rounds)? Culture fit interviews really make sense.

Totally agree with you. Wlb and the pay is really good at BBG. It's a trade-off more money might mean bad wlb. What I have heard FAN has really bad wlb. I am also fortunate enough to work on modern tech stack.

What team are you joining. Did u ask them what tech are they using and what are you going to work on?
Agree that Google is the only company that can do better on the WLB/Compensation ratio. If you are going to work like an animal, may as well go to a hedge fund get cash for your trouble. The right position will let you wipe your tears with $100 bills Google has their second largest engineering office in NYC, so there is lots of room to absorb people. Netflix isn't in NYC, so that rules them out. FB has a smaller office in NYC and they value youth and grinding code out fast, neither of which BBG has or values.
Google NYC gives Bloomberg employees straight Onsite interview without phone screen.
They bring their shit culture with them
