I’m considering a Principal PM role at Sofi in San Francisco. I’m a L6 at Facebook, current base is $230k, 20% bonus, and $650k stock. What is the Principal PM role level at Sofi? It reports directly into the VP of product. What salary should I expect? Similar/higher/lower? What about stock, now that it’s public? How is the culture at SOFI?
I’d be impressed if they could match your current fb TC. Culture is pretty toxic from what I hear Also, make this a poll
How many years work experience is an L6 @ FB.
I have 10 years experience
Everyone at SoFi is basically a principal PM. There are only 1-2 non principal PM. There’s a lot of title inflation. VPs are more like directors.
Thank you for that information. What is the years of experience
Varies some only have 4-5, others have 7-9
It is true about the title inflation, it was a way to get around pay bands in product. I also don't know if Sofi could match your current comp, maybe if you get pre IPO equity and factor in the IPOE price.
Is title inflation for PMs because salary bands are lower than for engineers?
In my understanding yes pay for Product is similar to one level lower for eng. I could be wrong though.
What would comp be the como range for a principal pm?
Got the offer, and I’m taking it. For everyone’s benefit- Base- $280K Bonus- 20% Stock: $950K Total comp: $568K
That’s huge! Congrats
@op are you still at SoFi? how much valuation % of your stocks tanked?
Thanks for sharing, where is the role located? Can you also share the interview process?
The culture is awesome if: 1. You are a narcissist and want to use your product role as an opportunity to tell people how awesome you are. 2. You want to work somewhere that product can tell engineering want to do. 3. You would prefer to play politics than ship products to consumers. Sofi is great for that. You can play politics and get rewarded for it. Understand that the CPO is ex-Mossad and engineering are the Palestinians.
@OP - Mind sharing how your experience has been with SoFi this far ? Worth considering for a PM role ?
How hard to get to L6?
