Hey. Got laid off back in September (not Google) at another start up. Applied to a Sofi contracting role. Was able to pass the first technical round because it wasn’t leetcode bullshit and more actual programming. Recruiter said the final rounds are less intensive as a contractor role but wanted to know what the questions were like. I’m terrible at leetcode still struggling to solve mediums. Easy are okay if I’ve seen them before. Any help would be great. Got laid off twice within a 12 month period (both times before thanksgiving) and have 2 kids under 2 which is a struggle trying to balance between being a good father and a good provider. #engineering #software #swe #sofi #interviewquestions #leetcode
I’m a staff engineer contractor. For me I had a 5 round virtual onsite after my initial interview. Mine was CI/CD (because it was specific to work I’d be doing, you probably won’t have this one), systems design, an LC easy, a behavioral, and a live coding. Your recruiter should be able to give you details about your upcoming rounds. Ask them lots of questions. Asking my recruiter lots of questions and nudging them to expose more details helped me prepare. Good luck.
Got the recruiter to tell me a little bit but a lot of times it feels like they don’t much. All he did tell me was the engineer that I did the phone screen with liked me a lot and to keep doing what I was doing. My personal skills 10x my coding. This what I have. 3 rounds. DSA and Problem Solving. Hiring Manager. Logical and Maintainable. I looked up logical and maintainable and all it comes up with is Amazon interview loop. Is Sofi pulling stuff from Amazon interview loop?
Wouldn’t be surprised, lots of ex Amazon management here
Hey op, I've been laid off & it's hard finding a FTE, I've a senior level (contractor) interview, is your interview completed? how did it go? what level have you interviewed for?
Hey. So the interview went well. But that doesn’t mean anything anymore in this economy. The key focus wasn’t so much of the solution but if you could communicate with the interviewer. Have some really solid stories for your behavioral that align with Sofi values. I got asked some easy/medium LC which was annoying but it is what it is. Focus on trying explain what you want to do and the interviewer will help you along the way. DM if you want more info I didn’t realize I under level my self so that’s probably why got the position over the other person
What level?

I gave onsite for FTE role and questions were not leetcode. They gave and ide with bunch of existing code and you need to implement remaining parts or debug etc. Should be doable. Keep communicating with interviewer. It's easy to get overwhelmed with lot of code but they were simple IMO.
Was this the second round? I did the first round and it was easy because I communicated what I was doing. Talked to the interviewer like he was my coworker and overall kept things chills. My worry is when I get an interviewer who just wants the optimized solution. Appreciate the response!
Yeah, this is onsites meaning second round with couple of interviews. It's going to be similar IMO. They don't ask LC. But I had one sys design like any standard company. Just keep doing what you did earlier and you should be good!
