Policy mostly takes it off the table

WeWork piyp OP Apr 22, 2023

What’s the policy?

GoDaddy k0sher Apr 22, 2023

No. I do for personal projects though. It’s mostly only good for boilerplate and unit tests.

WeWork piyp OP Apr 22, 2023

Do you see it getting better for the rest of the stuff in your development lifecycle soon?

GoDaddy k0sher Apr 22, 2023

Eventually, yes. Copilot X is gonna be backed by GPT4 and I’ve seen it create pretty accurate code snippets, so I am optimistic.

Is that a sheep or a dinosaur

Zoom TopZ Apr 22, 2023

Nah it can’t understand production level code. It’s an overrated hype on the internet for simple apps.

WeWork piyp OP Apr 22, 2023

Do you see it getting significantly better for production level code in the next 1 year?

Zoom TopZ Apr 22, 2023

No I don’t. Production level code isn’t as simple as (find the duplicate in the array). For example it was useless at explaining Twitter open source code.

ChatGPT is better

It's like a really annoying autocomplete from what I've heard

WeWork piyp OP Apr 22, 2023

What if it was auto-write, auto-fix and auto-deploy?

#ReadyForWork
benchpress Apr 22, 2023

It's annoying in the sense that people just turn it off

Microsoft lost$dev Apr 22, 2023

Yes. I would say its an advance autocomplete and overall it has increased my speed of shipping code

Wiley fluffbutte Apr 22, 2023

Got it recently. It's OK. Forced me to write docstrings to trigger smarter code gen, which is a good externality. So far it's written one line of code that made me stop and think... yeah that's better than I would have written it.

It makes everything so much faster
