Let's forget about the immigration status, funding, personal commitments etc. Do you think your 5 years of software engineering experience ( from coding to leading projects or sprint planning, estimation etc.) gives you enough confidence to start a company? If yes, what experiences have helped you? If no, what gaps you want to fill? #startup
Yes enough. There are many big tech companies founded by college grads (Google, Dropbox, Stripe, Snapchat, DoorDash) or college dropouts (Microsoft, Facebook) or even people who don’t know much about code (Amazon, Airbnb). So I’d say your yoe is more than enough to start building something.
Not sure Amazon is a good example. Bezos has a CS/EE degree and worked as a coder before becoming management. Did you mean to say Apple?
Lol no
Why?
Start with even making a product before starting a company....
The technical part doesn’t scare me. The “everything else” part does.
I have worked for a company run by people who thought the answer was "yes", and they are not very good at scaling as administration becomes more important. You need to have a great product to get away with it I think.
Could? Maybe. Should? Not without some serious guidance and resources
Make it a poll
I would like to know what kind of experiences make them say "yes" or "no". If I make it as a poll, people skip giving the reasoning.
