All, Currently I am doing Cloud Solution Architect role. I feel not much scope for Solution Architect to earn more. What should I learn additionally and change my career path for better salary and future? I used to be a data engineer (Informatica ETL) before becoming Architect. I have options to learn AWS DevOps. We have a Data science team, but I may have to learn a lot and prove before I get into this team. We are converting informatica ETL to PySaprk in Data engineering as part of Cloud Modernization. Please let me know your thoughts on this. Appreciate your insights 🙏#tech
Solution Architecture is the first few steps creating a product, service or a system. You should get involved in the implementation of the system as well. I have seen a lot of people who just draw a few boxes and then talk for hours but don't get involved with the implementation. Think about the principal engg position. You architect and then work shoulder to shoulder with your team to make it a reality
I’m on the opposite end, have spent years doing implementation in ProServe type roles. Would I have a good chance at SA? What about product management?
Learn AWS & Azure, and start your own consulting business. Lots of $$$ there
How to find clients on your own?
Even I am curious about that
Are you a SA at PayPal?
You can say that, it is one of the responsibility
I thought an architect was someone who designs systems end to end and has an important say in how a system as to be built. Something like an E6 or E7 role at Facebook. Those are highly sought out in the market right
SAs at cloud based companies are sales tech people, not software architects
I'm curious. What does sales tech mean?
Amazon SA cert is fancy name for basic cloud cert, to be real SA you need more knowledge and experience.
