Hi Blinders, posting for a friend who is stuck in unusual situation and looking for assistance here. Sorry for long story: My friend work for a company that provides a router to connect to the Internet and work. So far this was a WFH company so he worked from Texas. Now the company is calling him to be in California for two weeks and work from California and attend office 2 days a week. My friend booked a hotel for two weeks now the challenge is that the modem he is using right now is the “wired modem” with coax cable and hotels does not allow to connect the wired modem. Is there a Internet service provider that supports wireless modem something like T-Mobile 5G connection does? He already tried Xfinity, AT&T and Verizon and they do not provide services such as 5g T mobile does and currently T mobile does not have any equipment available so they have put him on the waitlist, which he does not know when going to come.
Try WiFi extender.
Why doesn't he just go into the office every day?
Due to space issues office only provides 2 days a week.. 😂
Just work in a meeting room or even in the reception area or parking lot with wifi receiption
If you mean trying to connect via direct Ethernet, Android supports tethering via Ethernet if you have a USB C to Ethernet adapter. Apple may or may not support something similar with a Thunderbolt to Ethernet adapter.

Absurdities of the Bay Area 😒
Why does he need a modem? Can’t be connect to a vpn from his computer Btw Tmobile wouldn’t have a coax cable. If by wired modem you mean coax cable then that won’t work. If by wired you mean an Ethernet cable then what you can do is get wifi extender with a Ethernet port. Connect extender to the hotel wifi and Ethernet to your computer
He needs something that can connect to hotel wifi and has the ethernet cable port that he can connect the company provided router to and can work. His company does not provide any soft vpn (old school) So far I have suggested a hotspot or portable wifi router. Was looking if there is any company specially in Bay area that can fulfill his demands. Something like straighttalk internet box
I guess a 5G internet such as Tmobile or Verizon may work as a portable router although idk if it is restricted to the service address. But yes, get any wifi signal (via hotspot or hotel wifi) then adding that to an extender that has an Ethernet port should work. Should his job be able to solve this issue for him somehow like they are the ones making him come to CA for 2 weeks so they should ensure he can get on their vpn. Maybe they should book him a hotel room with an Ethernet port. Anyway, here’s an extender that has an Ethernet port. TP-Link AC750 WiFi Extender(RE215), Covers Up to 1500 Sq.ft and 20 Devices, Dual Band Wireless Repeater for Home, Internet Signal Booster with Ethernet Port https://a.co/d/84A7zfN
