Edit: check out story number 3: Check out this post! "SpaceX Horror Stories III (Tech Industry)" https://us.teamblind.com/s/LtYoxnv1 —————————————————————- I decided to speak up about SpaceX!! I will start posting the horror stories I had while working for SpaceX a few years ago. I will tell one story at each post. I worked on Starlink, layout team. Story number two: Keep employees scared to keep him at 200% all the time. Just finished all the orientation material with some training using Mentor Xpedition (SpaceX layout tool). I met with my manager and she gave me a project that needs 2-3 weeks and she told me I have only 5 days to complete it. I had to work everyday 8am to midnight nonstop to be able to meet the unrealistic deadline. After every hard day of work I go to bed not able to sleep from how much I was consumed and drained all day. I finally able to sleep but… now I see a series of nightmares where I see myself working in my dream and making mistakes. Trust me dreaming of working is much harder then real working. Finally, I was able to finish the project in the 5 days! Now I send it for review in Jira, My manager reviewed it and she commented most aggressive comments I have ever seen in my career. Like: “this is really bad”, “I do not know what are you trying to do here” , “???”, “what is this”. Same day had a 1:1 meeting with her over the phone. Most unprofessional conversations I ever had with a manager. Some of what she said: “it is obvious that you haven’t done any design in you life”, “you have zero skills”… I was shocked!! I went to my car and I was like did that really happened? I was really angry and sad as I know I worked really hard. It that moment i knew that I should find another job. I right a way updated my LinkedIn in profile and deleted the SpaceX position. I went and talked to the hardware engineering manager and told him that I want switch teams. And I want to join his team. He agreed at first then he was like you only been here for 2 weeks. So we made a deal to stay in my team for a bit more and reevaluate. The next 2 days worked 14 hours a day and fixed all the error I made and the design looked perfect. I told my manager that I worked until after midnight until achieved the near perfect design. She said: “ every body does! you don’t have to tell me you worked late”. The child who always loved space and always dreamed to work in NASA and later SpaceX had his dream completely destroyed by an organization that consume the souls of their employees and the poor employees can’t say anything and when they have the courage to quit it already a year or two of suffering! Two years that you would never forget or forgive!!! See you on Saturday for episode 3. This thread is only for SpaceX stories. Me working for Amazon now is irrelevant. Let’s focus on the story!! Story number one: https://www.teamblind.com/post/spacex-horror-stories-oG4xXknk?utm_source=user_iosapp&utm_medium=share SpaceX TC: 180K Amazon TC: 210K #SpaceX #Amazon #meta #apple #Google #nvidia
Do you feel Amazon is better than SpaceX ?
I don’t know as I am not experiencing what a regular Amazonian would as I am lucky that my team are really nice.
Wow what’s the name of this toxic manager
Agree. Name and shame!
Any failure of yours is a direct failure of hers. I'm surprised she opted to scold you instead of listening and delivering on everything to make you successful. Typical unskilled manager behavior.
Was there anything you liked about spacex?
Yes! It is cool to say you work there. And a lot of learning due to be working all the time
Also the $5 food. That was great!
Rip Twitter employees
Name and shame that manager. It will save many lives.
Doxxed.
?
Name and shame.
This is not unusual in any Musk company... Loads of people join with stars in their eyes and that is viciously exploited by management.
Twitter employees are not going to enjoy reading this.
You are correct, this was not an enjoyable read
