Have an offer from SpaceX. I interned at intel and got a return offer there as well and now debating which to go with after graduation. TC for both are pretty much the same and both are in-person. SpaceX is LA and intel AZ. No current TC as I am in school full time. Edit: Even tho I’m a new grad, I’ve had a career shift and I’m in my early 30s so wlb is a priority. But, I wonder if spacex on my resume would be better for my future? Any advice?!
Intel has more upside, even with all the layoffs and nonsense going on over there. Semiconductor chips will always be in demand, and their product has more of a moat than SpaceX, which heavily relies on government backing and solves a problem in a field that isn’t immediately urgent and from which the technology is far from being accessible or applicable to humanity. Also consider the fact that SpaceX is a Musk-run company, meaning that you’ll be worked to bone and paid peanuts for the privilege of doing so; better to go to Intel and start your career at a healthier company. lol are you joking? this is such a braindead comment
Not joking. SpaceX is a pie-in-the-sky shot compared to the more reliable Intel, which has more applications to the world (including computing). Also, the WLB is terrible considering that you’ll be working 60+ hours a week. Even as a new grad, Intel is a better choice due to the immediate impact that we would have and the sustainability of the company moving forward, especially in a recession.
You’d be crazy to take Intel over SpaceX lol. Happy to answer any questions you might have.
SpaceX is just a government leech. It wouldn't exist without the USG.
Totally agree mr state sponsored chaebol
new and exciting spacex? or seasoned and secure intel? horrible wlb at spacex (or so i’ve heard) or decent wlb at intel? both seem to have risks — spacex dependence on funding and starlink, and intel’s competition/future/layoffs edit: if intel is already on resume for internship, maybe it would be nice to have spacex on it too?
An actually reasonable take
There are teams with good WLB at SpaceX
For new graduates I recommend spacex
For a new grad that needs to be challenged and get accomplishments, I will say go to SpaceX! If you want to coast and have 1 or 2 achievements a year.. then intel (unless you are joining the IFS team, they are pretty busy right now)
If work life balance is important to you, that’s something you can certainly find at Intel, but I question whether you’ll find it at SpaceX.
There are plenty of teams with good WLB
Intel if you dont wish to hate yourlife under Musk
lol you have to even think about it. I know SpaceX is kinda shitty in terms of WLB but trust me you don't want to come at Intel
Why do you say that about intel?
Do you want to start your career @ a place that is slower than Koala climbing a tree filled with dinosaurs who regurgitate the same fossil tech shit again and again dressed as something out of a Paris fashion show but under the hood you know it's a Wish/Temu quality product. Don't get me wrong we have some very talented engineers but the management is just 💩. I think with SpaceX, you will get to work on some niche stuff and an aggressive work environment will prep you for any shit work life can throw at you.
Go join spaceX. Intel ain't going anywhere.
If you can survive spacex for a few years they’ll prbly ipo at a huge number. Something to consider.
