I was recently let go from a non-tech position at a tech company, and I'm currently facing financial pressures with bills and rent to cover. I came across a SpaceX technician hiring event, and I'm contemplating whether it's a worthwhile opportunity. On one hand, I believe that having some income is better than none, and I'm open to the possibility of transitioning internally if at all. On the other hand, I've also submitted applications for internship positions for next year at SpaceX since I’m a part time CS student. What are your thoughts on whether I should give the SpaceX opportunity a shot?
Dude so many people cut their teeth as techs and have incredible careers. If you have a good attitude, love working OT, and have an eye for processes improvements and you're use to constant iteration you will like it.
Not to mention you’d be eligible for equity, which has a huge potential upside and has made many people here millionaires. Not sure of any other company that gives technicians equity grants. Do it!
If you have any technical certifications, can happily refer to Boeing

What do you think is wrong with a kid who got rejected by 9 colleges?
SpaceX seems like a cool company and gets you into a growing industry. While companies dealing with space are limited, it’d be an easy transition to aerospace companies which have tons of opportunities, if you so desired down the road.
Thanks for the insight!
