If you had the choice to internally transfer to London or NYC, what would be your choice? Looking for TC and social life aspects for a small family. #spotifycareers #spotify
Stockholm lol
Both those places suck IMO, isn't Spotify full remote anyways?
They are *but* you have to be in the eastern time zone
NYC for better TC and significantly higher safety. London is literally one of the most unsafe big cities in the world, whereas NYC is the opposite in that ranking
Sauce?
that sounds like total bs
dont you know how make a poll
Nyc salaries are twice London. NYC is just ducking amazing. It is not a fair comparison
You have mentioned pay and social life. In terms of pay, I would assume NY can't be beaten, although as per Numbeo (I have only London experience) its more expensive. There would be more possibilities to switching to higher paying jobs in NY, compared to London. In terms of social life, do you have friends in any of these cities, then that would sway the decision a bit. If not, then both these cities have tons to do, they are truly global cities. I personally would go for London, just because its closer to my home country, I like having Europe in my doorstep, I don't have to worry about H1B/Green card etc. But if these were not a factor, I would definitely want to spend few years in USA just to experience what its about. PS: Does Spotify allow you to easily move countries? Wife interviewing with them for remote UK role.
I can provide simple algorithm Shitty Passport, but not from India and Asia: 1. With kids and non working partner: Might be cheaper in London 2. Without kids: US, you will get a GC pretty fast and can find a high pay job Shitty passport and long GC queue: UK, to get a good passport in long term and avoid visa hell Good passport (EU or similar): Kids: UK might be cheaper No kids: US, just go, if you don’t like it, come back
Good stuff. I agree
Depends on a lot of factors where are you right now, single/married, expectation from the new location...
Stockholm, married with no children. Good pay and better social life than Stockholm
