Hey folks from @Spotify đ According to the reviews here it seems that it's not the best place in terms of career growth. Is it really so bad? How does the process look like? How long did it take for you to get promoted from pos1 to pos2? I would especially be glad to hear any experience regarding the path from "Software engineer ||" => "Senior Software engineer". #spotify #spotifycareers
Itâs really easy to get promoted to mid level. Anything above that is a shit ton of hassle. TLDR, you need to painstakingly document every bit of work you did, convince your manager that youâre ripe for promotion and hope for the best that the promotion package you and your manager did will fly (itâs not given). Oh, and you can only apply for a promo twice a year, during specific windows All in all, itâs one of the most bureaucratic places to get a promo. Itâs way easier to just quit, spend some time elsewhere and then rejoin with a higher position. Not to mention that there is a practice to lowball and downlevel people, and âretentionâ period of about 6 months after the hiring date, where you literally canât be promoted, no matter how hard you would try.
Sounds pretty much like the Amazon promo process.
