A spotify recuiter reached out to me in December 2020 and it took them 3 months to finish the painfully slow recruiting process. At the end of the process, they decided to roll out an offer. The hiring manager told me I did great in my interviews but they thought I should come at a level below Senior. The salary quoted was laughable, however, given I am super burned out in my current role, I decided to negotiate and take the job if they upped the quoted offer by 15-20 percent. In my call with the hiring manager, I mentioned I have competing offers and would love to work for Spotify if there was some room for negotiation. They heard this, went silent for a second and then threw a fit. 'How dare was I recruiting for other companies when recruiting for Spotify'. They said I should have disclosed that I was also recruiting for other companies. I was like ok no worries next time but then they went on a full rant on how much they invested in my candidature and how crazy the hiring bar was and how they had to make everyone agree to rolling out an offer and so on. Every time I said I am sorry I interviewed, they went on a long monologue on how I would NOT be a good fit. I said 'I agree' multiple times but they wouldn't stop. Anyhow after 40 mins of listening, I had to stop them and let them know I was getting late for my next meeting... This was the most disappointing and sad recruiting experience ever... Lol why would you even interview and waste you time at such place
That was a learning experience for her
Wow if true thatâs honestly crazy. Especially from a reputable company like Spotify.
Lol why would I spend time writing a long post if I weren't genuinely bummed.
Do they offer trips to Stockholm to make up for the low salary?
Yes thats a part of their benefits package
Oh snap!
Omg, I have an interview with them next week. What was their offer ? That manager sounds crazy..
Which team? Dm me. I think they generally low ball everyone
I just had interviews with them and everyone was super cool and friendly.
Lmao. I feel bad for recruiters. They have to deal with us divas while getting paid 1/5 our salaries. Fuck them though, this is bs
What's genuinely surprising is that they don't know most people recuit for multiple companies to have competing offers...
Recruiters get paid pretty well
Work at FAANG and use the double to triple TC to take nice vacations abroad and save for retirement. Or work at Spotify where you can work remotely internationally in Thailand... Because that's the only country you can afford where their đ„ TC.
So their remote policy has a bunch of terms of conditions. They wanted me to move to any location in the EST time zone and get a co working office if I were not planning to be in New York. They generously offered to pay for the co working desk.
Wow. This is bullshit. Didn't they do a media blitzkrieg proclaiming they are fully remote now?
You shouldnât have said sorry for anything. This is BS. How dumb the recruiter has to be to assume a person who is interviewing with them is not likely to interview with any other company. Also, if they were investing so much, why wouldnât they ask upfront if you were interviewing somewhere else. If I were in your place, i would have shoved it on to the recruiters face (of course politely and professionally).
To be fair they asked me this question one time in December when I was not actively recruiting. I said no at that time, and they never asked this question ever again
They can't shout at you unless you signed any of their documents. I would have Fuck them on LinkedIn by tagging
Thats stooping too low, I am happy ranting here
