What PM led this one so that they could put "reduced redundancy" on their request for promotion?
Nah, don’t remember anyone being promoted in Spotify for removing things. Usually it’s for adding things. Then we just bury them in the client so no one can find them
Probably because they couldn't figure out how to show you ads on the widget... That sucks
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Go on...
Probably couldn’t find a team who would want to own it and choose a path of least resistance. Or someone wanted to boast on a mailing list how many loc they deleted.
Seriously people. All these changes are data driven as in all other tech companies. Anyone posting on Blind is a power user of any app in the world compared to “normal” users. I feel your rage and I’m angry about some changes myself. But just live with the fact that Spotify as any other app after some level of success isn’t built for you anymore. It’s built for the other 95% of users 🤷🏻♂️
I guess data driven CAN be wrong sometimes.
Data driven... Sometimes what we track doesn't actually correlate to the value users get from it. I honestly think we should be catering to power users just as much as the passive 95%. They're the most vocal and evangelize our app. Regardless, our premium offering needs to be doing more not removing shit. Don't live with it, keep complaining community, it's the only way Spotify will get better.
You can add back with kwgt https://www.androidpolice.com/2019/08/16/miss-the-spotify-widget-you-can-bring-it-back-with-tasker-and-kwgt/
