Just got back a decline following my technical phone screen with Square. It was the interviewers first time interviewing and he didn’t know Java. We worked through it and I finished 2 out of the 3 with upfront communication on my thought process. Today I got an email letting me know I am not moving forward. I emailed the recruiter and asked if there was any feedback for me but he said they do not share that. Is this typical? I feel like usually they share feedback based on posts I’ve seen on blind L4 1 year post grad #Square #feedback#swe #interview
Very unusual to not be able to get any feedback in my experience (with other companies, never interviewed with square)
Feedback is usually shared for on sites not for phone screens
Very common not to receive any feedback at all. Sometimes they’ll tell you what on-site interview specifically didn’t go well but rare to get anything beyond that.
Their loss, stop focusing on what’s behind you and focus on what’s ahead of you. I am guessing more interviews so focus on that. Sometimes it will be a reject even when you think you knocked it out of the park. Many reasons that you will never know so just learn from it and keep going.
Im also waiting for a response on my technical screen and I completed 2 parts with working solution when the session was about to end. One post in Glassdoor mentioned there could be 4 parts to a problem. So I guess its also about how far you can go in the complexity ladder. With this in mind, I don't think I'll go to the next step either and not planning to ask for feedback if it happens.
What do they ask, that has 4 parts?
Companies rarely share feedback, for legal reasons.
