I have an upcoming onsite interview with Square. I did go through previous Blind posts, but wanted to ask if someone recently interviewed there. What should I expect in pair programming interviews? And also how should I prepare for it? Any help would be great! 😊
I recently did an onsite at square. I had 3 pair programming rounds, and each round had follow ups. So you won’t necessarily be coding one question in those 60 mins. The interviewer will extend the problem and ask you to solve that. Just be aware of that fact.
Ensure you have an idea of all the standard api in your preferred language. Pair programming will be more concentrated on how elegant and concise your code is. Problems will not be that difficult — May be leet easy or medium. Hotel booking system is one of the standard system design questions at square.
Totally depends on the pair interviewer . I got through the first round where the interviewer got to his questions step by step (Leetcode medium ) Very reasonable . The second one was a old grumpy guy who took 25 mins to explain the problem and expected you to code in the next 20 mins . Make sure you get to the problem in the first 10 mins else you will put yourself to more pressure .

Each interviewer has their own interview question. You'll have three 60-min coding interviews, then two q&a interviews. Read the prep email carefully for the interviews and prepare for what it says. For the coding interviews, prep with leetcode/hackerrank.
