I had an onsite with square last week for a mobile position. I feel like all rounds went well, except for one of the coding rounds I got tunnel vision and the interviewer had to give me some hints. It was so trivial I'm kicking myself for not nailing it. My take home project also got positive feedback for the most part, and any shortcomings I documented where I would improve with more time. Also very positive feedback on a Q&A leadership screening interview before the onsite. It's been almost a week of radio silence now, and I keep over analyzing the situation. Is it possible to still get an offer while underperforming on one coding session? Also not sure if the delay is a good or bad sign. YOE: 9
It's a slow time because of holidays. Also there might be a couple more on-sites scheduled for the role, so the HM might be waiting for other candidates to have their interviews. Since it's already been a week and the Thanksgiving holiday period hasn't yet officially begun, I think there's nothing wrong with emailing the recruiter and asking for a timeline. Although it's definitely possible that they're taking the whole week off
That's good to know, I will probably email them tomorrow to ask. There were two roles open mentioned to me, so I'm hoping I match with one.
Things are slow at this time. If you got a 3/5 or 4/5 on your coding round and mostly nailed the others you'll be okay but if it was a blowout then it's up in the air.
I assume 5/5 would be if I added tests, and 4/5 would be if I completed all reqs no issues? I did complete it, just stumbled a little bit so I'm hoping I got a 3/5.
Update: Was told all of the rounds went really well, except for mixed signals on pairing extensions as I suspected. Setting up a meeting with a HM for my preferred team who I haven't met yet. If there isn't a match I hope I can fall back on the other team who's manager I did meet, and would also be happy with.
Update: 3 weeks after my onsite and 2 months after my phone screen I was unable to get a team match for now (cash app). I was told I'm too senior for what most teams want, and one HM is on the fence. Seems like a lot of people on blind have had this issue with Square, so I'm not sure if I should have much hope for a match in the coming months. All the people at Square/Block have been excellent, the recruiter had great communication, but the matching process has been a little painful. I guess they have enough candidates this process works though.
I have a take home assignment with square I’m starting next week. Could I dm you about your process?
Op please check your dm and help me out
It's the holiday season and most people are out on vacation probably. I Know the wait time is killing you but unfortunately end of year is always like this at any company
