Israeli precision-guided munition likely killed group of children playing foosball in Gaza, weapons experts say
So I have near identical offers for tc from square and atlassian. I've gone to negotiation multiple times so these are truly the final offers. Which is better? I know atlassian probably has the edge on wlb but I see more upside to stock at square as well. How are refreshers at both? I'm hoping to be at one or the other for a long time. I'm also pretty driven and interested in moving into management or promotions and I hear it's hard at atlassian don't know about square. Both are remote and I'm in very LCOL. Both are Sr swe. Can people from either place tell me how refreshers are? Atlassian P5 Base - 175 RSU - 200k over 4 years Bonus - 15% No signing TC - 250 Square E5 Base - 171 RSU - 340k No bonus Signing - 15k TC - 270 y1 255 after Current TC: 182 Yoe: 5
On average refreshers are about 25% of the average grant for your level in your compensation zone. Last year they gave more (closer to 40-50%). Something to keep in mind, you wouldn't get a comp change, refresher or bonus until next September. Technically you could participate in the mid cycle promos but yes, P6 promotion is very hard here. Lateral move to management (M3) would not be so bad as long as you give it a couple of years to build a record of delivering.
Interesting thought. I've heard atlassian is on the Australian financial calendar. I almost saw that as a good thing as that gives me a full year where i could deserve a raise? At square I felt it was unlikely to get a raise at end of year. Or refreshers. How much upside do you think the stock has? It seems less impacted lately but it's price compared to revenue is still insanely high.
Yes FY 23 just started July 1st so you'd get a full year. Although P6 on average is one of those levels where you're expected to perform at P6 level for at least a year before getting considered for it. I think the stock has great upside assuming that we grow as expected. There's a big push to grow the business and all profits go back into the business. The move to cloud is also a great thing that will continue growing the company for the foreseeable future. In this uncertain time, I personally don't feel at risk of losing my job. Jira/confluence/bitbucket/etc licenses don't seem like something that other companies would cut back on.
Is it SWE?
Ya I think it's a Sr software engineer title. I don't really care about titles just responsibilities.
Good offer for LCOL
Atlassian has great work life balance. If you’re looking for high impact work, generally Square will be better but it is still team dependent. Atlassian equity has good growth potential but for a SaaS company, it trades at a pretty high multiple compared to sales. We are planning to grow a lot but the targets seem aggressive. We’ll really need to execute. Fintech got hammered and is very competitive industry but Square is a better investment imo. That being said, I love Atlassian and discontinued my Square process after my offer.
Btw, it's called L5 at Square, not E5.
Hi congrats on your offers! Would you mind sharing your prep for coding and sys. design? Were most of your coding questions medium difficulty? Thank you in advance.
We're known for our WLB here, and our refreshers are great. Our annual comp cycle ensures that you remain in your overall TC band for your level each year.
What’re the typical refreshers and base increase?
Base increase depends on performance, but at the very least you'll get an inflation adjustment each year. Refreshers also depend on performance, but we've been generous historically. There aren't really typical numbers, since it also depends a lot on role, level, and location.
Atlassian is practically a dead-end for growth in terms of both levels and skills
Highly team dependent. I don't feel this way personally.
Which teams and orgs would you say don't have this problem?
Congrats on your offer! Can you share your interview experience with Square? How did you prep for system desigh?
Sure
Thats such lowball for atlassian. Are you in LCOL?
Yes I'm in the bottom tier for both companies. Its slightly higher than a friend who just got a job there right next to me same role a few months ago. They also negotiated significantly up.
what location. I think its time i should move
