Square vs GitHub Entry Level SWE

Both fully remote positions in Ohio Square: $84k base salary, $5k sign on bonus, $80k stock over 4 years, benefits worth ~$9k/yr. After 1 year total comp including benefits ~$109k GitHub: $101k base salary, $20k sign on bonus, $32k Microsoft stock over 4 years, annual bonus worth 10-20% annual salary and additional annual bonus worth $4-8k Microsoft stock, benefits worth ~$17k/yr. After 1 year total comp including benefits ~$143k Leaning towards GitHub b/c passionate about both companies and feel like both companies are similar caliber and good exit opportunities if wanted and GitHub pays ~30% more. But this app seems to love Square and the culture there etc. Where should I choose and why? #Square #GitHub #Block #Microsoft #Tech #SWE #newgrad #entrylevel

Can you use Github offer to negotiate more for Square?

Square socbusk May 17, 2022

OP: just want to make sure someone has told you this since you're entry level: always negotiate!!

Square socbusk May 17, 2022

Initial offers (especially at square it seems) leave room for negotiation. It's expected

Go to Github for TC Good place to work

GitHub potB81 May 18, 2022

Go GitHub! WLB is unmatched

Square bmvl73 May 18, 2022

Block is great, but not worth a 30% comp difference. GitHub will also have much more stable stock (Microsoft). Seems like an easy choice.

GitHub defunkt May 22, 2022

GitHub is top tier place to work. The day I leave I will regret. Congrats on the new grad offer 👏
