I have offers from Google, Amazon, Bloomberg and Squarespace. All numbers are negotiated and final. Other offers (lowball < current TC) — HBO, Flock Freight, Addepar. Current: SDE-2 | L62 | 190k | Redmond, WA YOE: 5.5 Immigration status: US Citizen Interested in hearing any insights from those who work at any of these companies about culture, WLB, growth opportunities. Thanks! #google #bloomberg #amazon #squarespace
I’d go square space or Bloomberg if the work seems interesting! That’s a significant raise!
Work is pretty interesting at both companies. Squarespace’s tech stack seems better though.
Did you already negotiate? Amazon can easily go beyond 300k
Unless they are ready to pay 400+. It really isn't worth it
^^ agreed lol
That’s a Lowball from Google. Avoid Amazon. As for WLB, I’ve heard Squarespace is decent. Comparable to Bloomberg, difference being stock. It can potentially increase TC in the long run. While at Bloomberg, it’s all cash!
Ah that makes sense. Google not matching other offers, but again it’s Google.
If u have any remote stipulations, Squarespace. Otherwise, Bloomberg
Why Bloomberg over Squarespace ? Advantage of remote is I can work from anywhere. I can move if I “want” to rather than “have” to for the job!
Read my statement again. You clearly have “remote stipulations”.
Can you give an insight into your preparation for all these interviews? Like amount of LC/system design
I want to know this too.
About 250 LC, mostly Mediums and some Hard, which includes all topics. DDIA / Groking the system design and existing design documents for system design.
Are you sure that's not a Google L3 offer? I got almost the same offer for L3
Dang! Recruiter confirmed that it’s L4.
Seattle offers are lower than Bay Area.
Google is paying like Microsoft these days.
Seems like that! :/
Between SQSP and Bloomberg SQSP -pro: better tech stack -con: stock (along with most small/mid cap tech) going to keep taking hits from upcoming interest rate hikes + backloaded vesting Bloomberg -pro: safer TC (cash >>> stock in current market conditions, get the cash and invest in market downturn) -con: 1980's UI Isn't Google frontloaded vesting? Why not work the first 2 years then jump for 400-500k
Whats the Sqsp stack?
Makes sense. I don’t want to keep hoping jobs, it’s a lot of effort. I know it’d increase compensation but have to start all over, making new connections, gaining trust etc. SQSP stack is Java / Kafka / Kubernetes / Mongo or Cassandra / Postgres / AWS or EC2 (not sure) Bloomberg stack Typescript / python / C++ / ComDB2
How was the google interview?
Questions were vague. No system design, which was surprising. Couldn’t find any of those questions online which was expected. I’d say mostly hard.
did you interview for L5 or L4? L4 doesn't have system design questions. What were the topics of the questions?
