Horrible Netflix ML interview experience
According to levels.fyi and speaking to recruiters they suggest that Staff SWE at Google is the equivalent of PE at Amazon. Is that really true though? Speaking to hiring managers at Google it seems like the Staff positions are mostly at the team level, which seems more like an Amazon SDE3 to me.
Equal probably only in pay (staff may be lower than PE at amzn though). No way in scope.
Amazon PE has more scope .
About 1.5% of engineers are PE / L7 at Amazon. L6 at Google is 10-15% of engineers.
Take what pays you more . Amazon will keep following for 2 yrs even you decline but google may ghost you
Amazon PE >>> staff at G . Given the scope and size of problems to tackle in Amazon, it is better than senior staff also imo
True I have couple of friends who work as PE at Amazon and the problems to tackle are at generic level that cut across teams.
