Staff SWE lowball offer at Google
I am extremely baffled that Google lowball the offer so much. It took over a year from time of first contact with recruiter till having an offer but they are giving me 635K TC (including sign on). That is even lower than my current comp so it would not make any sense to move now given that they are cutting cost and laying off people. Is this only me or anyone got low ball this much? I know in 2021 they used to give offer at same level at close to 800K TC: 644K
Does hashicorp give refreshers?

I’d take it from Google as an investment into a future opportunity in 1.5 - 2 years.
G should lowball further when ppl like me who are as smart as you and willing to work for G for low tc

This seems like a fair offer for L6. 2021 was an anomaly.
That's a decent staff offer, if you want more go to a different company or get a higher level.

Google doesn't consider the current comp when making an offer. They only care about competing offers.
