Moved to US 6 years back and had no idea about salaries here. Now I feel super underpaid and starting job search. My current role has overlap on engineering manager (have 5 people reporting to me) and also senior engineer (involved in all kinds of architecture, framework and design stuff. Even code reviews). What role should I target- Staff/Senior engineer or EM/SDM? Will appreciate any kind of prep details and referrals too. YOE: 16 TC: 130K

What's 390k/3? If it's 130k, why can't you just write 130k?
I mean they're different jobs
Lol why do you need people to tell you which position to apply for? This is totally your decision.
If you like people management then go for EM otherwise SE role. SE roles paid more than EM roles in many companies and SE demand is higher
Any preparation tips? I feel confident about system design and okay on behavioral. Leetcode is what I am unsure about.
Start from blind 75. Not all companies ask leetcode for EM. LinkedIn, FB, G, Tiktok ask for code. Others are not generally.

I am also in the same boat. Can you please tell me what did you do?
390k is “super underpaid” now! Or maybe I don’t understand your TC
