Hi Please review my offer for Starbucks Senior SDE role in Seattle. Base: 140k Yearly bonus: 10% Stock options : 12k annually I currently live in Missouri and my TC is 125k Would this be a good move? I heard Seattle cost of living is pretty high. Any suggestions on negotiations would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. #tech #softwareadvice
Would you be interested in Florida? Low cost of living and a senior SDE role at OfferUp pays +180k
where in Florida are your offices?
Definitely, does OfferUp sponsor though? I am on work visa
Not worth moving to Seattle for I was making $193k and felt broke af Luckily I found a full remote team and relocated back to the Midwest
Depends on your family situation, I am married with no kids and a house in Seattle I make around 170k TC and I feel broke. The only savings I will get is the stock grants that are coming in 6 months.
My situation is similar except the house. But it would probably be kinda like a culture shock for me paying double the rent in Seattle. This is the reason I am trying to see if it even makes sense to move for this TC
Makes sense if you can get faang job or plan to do so in the future Or your wife works in a high paying field.
probably be net negative due to col unless you have other reasons for wanting to be there....you can make 150k and stay where you are w remote job
I’m so sorry for telling the ugly truth but this is less than what Microsoft pays to new grads..
Yeah most no name startups pay 200k for a senior now.
Seattle is very expensive compared to Missouri. Your $200k home there is probably $1.5M here. Rent for 1 bedroom apartments is $2000/month. $140k base after retirement savings and living expenses doesn’t give much, if anything left over. the guy with a $3000/mo mortgage has a cheap home purchased years ago, or a condo. Impossible to buy for that price these days.
What would be a decent enough salary I can negotiate for? 225k?
What are your current expenses? Do you have kids? Married? All depends on life style. I have friends who are living on 80k in SEA area (not everyone is in tech).
Married, and no kids. My current monthly expenditure is around 4000 - 4500$ in Missouri including all expenses.
TIL starbucks have swe roles. I mean I know there’s the app and a website but just never heard of anyone working there in this role
Pretty much every Fortune 500 company has SWE roles
