I got an offer from a company whose Series C was back in 2021 with 1B valuation. They made the offer by giving X shares each at Y$ (2021 price) and told me the total equity to value is X*Y. Is this largely misleading, considering almost all startup valuation dropped during 2021-2023? What can I ask to know more about my actual equity value? Is website like notice.co accurate? TC: 500K
Take a 70% discount on the number they provided while also keeping in mind it is worth $0.
yes misleading. discount company valuation by 75%. discount option “value” by 100%. options are worthless at time of grant. to ascribe a value is foolish
Ask the price from the last 409a valuation. That's the FMV.
Isn’t that the strike price?
