Startup offer vs continue applying while on h1b

I've received an offer after 5.5 months of applying/interviewing post layoffs The offer is with a startup but unfortunately they are not doing so well, they have laid off people over and over in the past 2 years. So in general there is a high chance of more layoffs. I'm on H-1B and currently 1.5 years is remaining only. I do have more interviews coming up within the next month but the start up has asked me to either accept or reject their offer by end of next week. My concern is not money, I'm concerned about my H1B as I don't have i-140 and the startup will be applying for PERM & I-140. If I lose my job with this startup anytime within the 1.5 years, it might get very difficult to find other jobs due to 1.5 years remaining from h1b only (I'm presuming this, not sure if this is actually correct..??) What do you recommend me doing? Appreciate the help Option A) Accept startup offer, rescind offer if you get other offers within the month before starting work with startup Option B) accept startup offer, quit job at startup within a few short months after you start work if you land a better offer Option C) Reject startup offer and keep interviewing Option D) I don't know

Accept the offer and delay the starting date for few weeks! Some times in life you have to be selfish and think about your own interest only! Option A and B are both ok!

They would fire you no questions asked if they felt it in the best needs of their business. You should be willing to do the same. Chances are a small startup will never go public so any stocks are Monopoly money anyway. Plus it’s easier to find a job when you are already employed

@OP with only 1.5 yrs left probably in your best interest to start looking for a long term backup… No i140 or PERM and you want to get this done in 1.5 yrs If they laid off recently for that role they may not even be able to file Best to be honest with yourself about long term options

The point of a temporary guest worker visa is to fill the void of American workers for a specific skill. Take whatever job is most interesting to you, not which one will allow you to stay in this country. If you are laid off then pack your bags and return to India, don’t fight tooth and nail to stay and whine about how it’s unfair. You don’t have a right to stay in this country especially when the one you’re from is good enough. Safe travels back to India when the time comes 👋

It's a free country, everyone can decide to speak and act in their best interests. OP has a right to complain about laws made 25 years ago if it causes them problems.

Actually, they do have a right to stay as long as their visa is valid and they pay taxes.
