I’ve worked at Boeing for the last 6 years in Supply chain. I have a master degree and am a level 2 making 70k TC a year. I was just offered a job at Honeywell making 90k TC a year. I’ve heard bad things about Honeywell though. Should I take the leap just on compensation alone? Or is there a reason I need to stay at Boeing? Thanks!
Fly away!
What is your role? 90K TC with a masters seems insanely low. I am near $500K TC with a BA.
Demand forecasting. It’s a function of supply chain. That’s what I’m saying. It feels low at Boeing, hence me looking for other opportunities.
Got it. Yeah def move and bump that TC and also try to move to a completely new role eventually.
Where are you based?
Arizona
Same type of job function but I’m on the procurement side. Finishing MBA in two months and will be looking in July/August for a move similar to yours. Hoping for a higher base than your TC though
When I started at Boeing I had a bachelors. Base forecasting salary was $55k. I got a masters and it didn’t do anything for my salary.
Yeah I’m getting my mba so I can jump ship to higher tc
I’d leave if in your position. $70k TC is low for your experience and years of experience. Since you aren’t taking an ILO, you can come back potentially in the future if you desire...hopefully at a higher level and TC.
Dumb question: it’s harder to return back if you take a ILO? Do you get on some black list?
I believe you sign an agreement keeping you from returning. And/or you can return but then pay back a prorated amount of the severance package you received from leaving. So not harder but you’d need to keep that in mind.
Honeywell has a graduate supply chain rotational program with a 6 figure starting TC. Only recruits from certain MBA / graduate programs though
I’ve worked for Honeywell for over 16 years and it’s a good company to work for. I have also worked closely with Boeing on a number of different initiatives. Go with Honeywell - lots of career movement sideways or up for good talent.
I have been working for Honeywell for 15+ years. It’s a good company. Employees are well respected. Layoffs are not common, it was all due to pandemic. More than 50% of laid off employees joined back HW. You will have a good growth if you have potential. Join Honeywell
Can I ask a weird compensation question. Do you ever get bonuses at Honeywell? Boeing gives a bonus almost annually and it’s really nice to get an extra $1k-$3k a year. Wasn’t sure if that’s unique to Boeing or if Honeywell does that too.
What is the title of your job in HW?
I’m going to be honest. If you are in the aerospace industry. There is hardly any reason to stay in your current role if you are offered more money elsewhere. Take the money. Stop jumping when you find a good organization where you can chill out and are respected and get paid well

Dude go. Honeywell is shit but so is Boeing. TC jump is well worth it
I have to admit, I love the honesty. I feel like I’ve heard so many bad things about Honeywell though. Like they lay off people A Lot more than Boeing...
