Stay at Netflix vs. Move into Crypto
Hi folks, Hoping you can help me with a career decision. Context: I'm a PM at Netflix (TC: 650k) but am not excited about the job. 8 YOE. I spend much of my time thinking about and engaging in web3 projects and am applying to jobs in the web3 space. The space is significantly more exciting to me than what I am currently doing at Netflix. Got an offer from Dapper Labs (they work in the NFT space and did NBA TopShot) for a Lead PM role. TC offer is ~450k USD -- $230 base -- $85k in Flow tokens @ 90D MA price of $14 -- $135k in stock options Obviously the TC at Netflix is incredible and the fact that it's all cash allows me to get the financial exposure to the crypto industry I want. What I am debating is: -- Growth opportunities at Netflix vs a start-up like Dapper -- Potential financial growth given that Dapper is pre-IPO (their token was at $22 recently but now it's down to $8) -- Professional exposure to the crypto world which is much more exciting to me but higher risk. I feel like I'm being a bit low-balled here considering my current position and TC. #crypto #nft #netflix #dapper #tech Any advice would be really appreciated.
Get into good crypto companies like coinbase.. no risk, also u ll get high TC
at least for comp, 450tc for an early/mid stage crypto startup feels about what you might expect, maybe even on the high side to me 🤷♂️ though options and tokens in a crypto startup feel extra nebulous, even but startup standards
Crypto bro! It's the future...but I would pick Netflix over Dapper...you could literally take half of Netflix pay and invest it in cool and interesting crypto projects
