Stay at amazon or move

I’m currently in focus and don’t see it ending soon. I have an offer from another company for $400k TC. If I stay at amazon for another 2 months, i will make $300k annually roughly. Basically closer to what i would make annually this year if i take the offer. Should I stay put and leave after 2 months or jump ship now? Staying put allows me to take a break for the rest of year. If I choose to stay and leave later, one unknown is job market in 3-4 months from now. TC: $450k

Are you l5?

Try to stay employed. I'm in the job market rn. Trust me, you do NOT want to be here

Yeah I worry about this. But I also want to take a break.

Raptive dtzX40 Apr 17

I'm telling you, you do not.

Take money from Amazon

I want to know when your TC is 450k, How will you make 300k in the next 2 months?

Amazon njjku Apr 17

Stock vest

Good job detective! But that’s not where i need help

I would leave. There’s a good chance you’ll lose out on the other opportunity and get PIPed here. Why don’t you ask to be PIPed. Take the severance and join the other firm

Google IiCk52 Apr 17

Never worth battling the pip. Take severance when you can go to a new place and sleep much better at night

Insurance Company TXxX06 Apr 17

A pip isn’t worth it. If I were you, I’d just leave at this point. There is a good chance you could get pipped in this env after focus. And there’s no guarantee that you’ll find another job by then.

What makes u think you can stay for 2 months while in focus ? Your manager can walk in tmrw start ur PIP and give you 30 day plan and make you quit before your stock vest. Did they already communicate the dates and you are safe beyond vesting ? if yes then extend and then join new job.

This is a difficult situation. You have several options but the best path is not clear and can be very detrimental for your mental health. If you can handle it you can try to get out of focus, cash in and leave. You can also try to take FMLA if your RSU still vest during that. 300k in two months is a lot of money and definitely worth trying to navigate. But if the other job offer can't wait 2 months and you want to work in the other place the long term risk can be high. Is not easy to get positions for 400k TC in this market RN. The ideal situation is to try to negotiate your start date 2 mo from now and try to cash in at Amzn.

FMLA + std for 6 months and then leave
