Currently a T3 Swe in northrop grumman space park. My relationship with functional is actually great. However, not sure if i can consider my work to be fulfilling. To me, it is a job, nothing more. Besides, older companies like ngc does not treat developing engineers that well, at least compared to the bean counter. Oh yea, they start giving us the vibe that they want us back. I currently got a program manager (full remote job) offer in an automotive company. However, tc was low, so i at least told them to beat my current salary by 10%. They just emailed back, saying opened a sr. Proj. Manager role, with an intention to beat my comp by 5%, with official revised offer coming within the week. Once this offer comes in, however, dunno if ill be able to squeeze more than 147.5k or so. Then today I also heard from my boss that ill be pushed up to a t4. Do not know exactly when, and how much, but i am thinking 150 to 160 range, with notice probably coming in 2 weeks, if it does go through. With this situation, i wonder. Should i leave northrop, or stay? I have been wanting to give pm a try, as i am sick of actual developing, and could use a 100%remote gig, but the pay seems so miserable. But then, nothing is guaranteed, esp. In either of the both situations. In this case, shud official offers come for both, should i pass the pm offer and stay at ngc, hope to become a t4 soon, and leave? Btw i am currently 6.5 yoe 140k.
Stay my friend and use the wlb while persists. The grass is not greener somewhere else. I have been at different places and miss NG wlb.
If you think you'd be happier at the auto company (in terms of role and mission) then leave. Otherwise stay
Is a job ever supposed to be anything more than a job? Seems like kool-aid that HR and startup owners want you to drink. To me, even if I enjoy my work, a job is still just a job at the end of the day.
