Stem OPT extension

I am currently in the Stem OPT filing process and have completed Form I-983. After submitting the form to the DSO, I expected to receive an I-20 for my I-765 application. However, the DSO informed me that my Form I-983 has been uploaded to SEVIS with STEM OPT dates requested and I should wait for final approval from USCIS for both the job and dates, which may take a few weeks.
