PM is product manager or technical project manager??

Agilent Technologies Bill Hates Oct 8, 2021

PM on blind is product manager. Project managers are happy they have a job, they don't think about competitive pay

Unless they work at fb I guess, in which case they’re gonna burn the place down to get on tv.

Competitive but stitch fix laid off a huge number of employees at the start of the pandemic. Look it up. I’d be afraid to lose my job if we hit another economic snag (likely)

Stitch Fix itismeguys Oct 8, 2021

*a huge number of stylists and warehouse employees. They didn’t lay off tech people. It is still tragic, but the jobs of tech employees are pretty safe.

True. But attrition in product and the algorithms (data science) orgs have been severe in the past year or two. Morale is low.

320k s a good PM salary if you are not looking at FAANG

Stitch Fix itismeguys Oct 8, 2021

How much more would FAANG offer?

Airbnb CNzX84 Oct 8, 2021

Please tell me this is Product Manager and not Project Manager.

ALWAYS ask for more. The worst they can do is say no or come back with a little more!

ViaSat tlpv01 Oct 9, 2021

The worst they can do is rescind your offer. It rarely ever happens, but it does happen. Before asking for more always weigh considerations such as do you have other offers lined up, how badly do you need this job, and how badly do you want to work at this specific team. 90% of the time ask for more. But do it knowing the, very rare, risks.

I've been looking at remote roles, nothing located in SF but compared to my current TC as a Sr. PM (175k base, 20k mid bonus) and what I've seen for ranges, that feels competitive to me.
